Off The Shelf

Art Now - Vol 4
Publishers: Taschen

Here's a question for you - We know that a gathering of geese is called a 'gaggle' and a group of cows is called a 'herd' but what would you called a collection of contemporary artists... let's ponder on that for a minute?

In the meantime here is the latest offering from Taschen Publishing.

Don't let the cover fool you, this a mega book with it's ace hi-def pictures and interesting in-depth articles on the most current artist on the world scene. Not just illustration is on offer also, sculpture, architecture, paintings, textiles, graphic design, screen prints and photography... the list goes on!

Over 100 artists are feature between the covers, those include Jeff moons, Chuck Close, Mark Ryden, Kara Walker and tons more, who show their own individual styles...

From the book:
"There are examples of this from the first pages: the Algerian artist Adel Abdessemed, twisted serpentine aircraft into each other and the Chinese Ali Weiwei, who uses the technique not only to defamiliarise (or out right destroy) traditional arts and crafts but also to involve events from his life or politics of his homeland."

Anyway,  getting back to the question we asked at the top of the post;
"What would you call a collection of contemporary artist?"
We think we now have the answer - " Art Now Volume 4... yep that will do nicely☋"

Let's have a look at some of the pages...
